Practicing the Presence of God

People ask so often, "Where is God when I need Him?" Well, He's always there, but we don't always feel it!

Have you ever shopped for a new car and then suddenly, you see them everywhere you go? That's because you have a heighten sense of awareness. It's not that there are suddenly more of that model of car on the road; it's because it's on your mind.

The same thing applies with our walk with God. If we make an intentional effort to seek time with Him, we become more aware of what He is doing in our lives and around us.

The hard part is finding that time. Well, I have three suggestions for you:

1. Spending time in prayer. Not just taking time to pray FOR others and yourself, but also taking time to GIVE thanks and listen. You'll be surprised what crosses your mind.

2. Spending time in the Word. Take time to read the scriptures in a prayerful attitude. God will reveal Himself through the scriptures. If you don't have time to read, listen to Christian radio or podcasts.

3. Spend time serving God. Volunteer at a food bank, a soup kitchen, a homeless shelter or anywhere you feel called to help others less fortunate than yourself.

In do these things on a consistent basis, you will learn to see God everywhere you look. When you go through tough times, you will know where to find God and will find peace and comfort beyond your understanding.
